     The Roots of the Farmhouse Bakery and Cheese Shop go back a long way.  Grandmother Herr was well known as an excellent cook in the days of the threshing crew.  She and Grandfather Herr served Springfield, Ohio with homemade, home-delivered cheese, butter, dressed poultry, vegetables, and other home-raised items.

     Ailene grew up participating in her father's Grade A goat dairy plant and home-bakery route.

     Donna's love of cooking and baking started early in her life, doubtless a heritage from Grandma Herr, and grew as she cooked for the family as a teenager, and carried home the blue from her 4-H bread.

    Jay's love for farm and country grew out of his heritage from Grandpa and Grandma Neerhof and has taken him to the farm after growing up in town.   

    Donna and Ailene baked breads, pies, and rolls for farmer's markets for 9 years before the opportunity came to establish the Farmhouse Bakery and Cheese Shop at Granton, Wisconsin where they are happy to offer superior quality foods to central Wisconsin . . . . and beyond!
